Annapurna Base Camp, also known for the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is a popular trekking trail in Nepal's Annapurna Region from the beginning, where other trekking routes were not discovered. The trek takes you through stunning mountain scenery, including the Annapurna Range, and offers stunning views of Mt. Fishtail. Roughly the shortAnnapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek distance is about 35 to 40 km from Pokhara. On this 5 days ABC Trek, the itinerary typically starts from Pokhara and follows the Modi Khola River upstream. We will drive just below Ghandruk village from Pokhara to the Jhinu Danda Bridge to make the trip itinerary short. Some people take a helicopter ride to Annapurna Base Camp, which is another way to reach Annapurna Base Camp, but we are talking about the trekking plan.

Highlights of 5-Day Annapurna Base Camp

Best Seasons And Months For The Short ABC Trek

The most popular time to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek is from September to November, when the weather is clear and more crowded. Autumn temperatures average around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, but they decrease as you gain elevation.

Trekkers who want to avoid the crowds often go to ABC in the winter or spring. Winter is the coldest time to trek, but there are fewer people in the area.

Spring is considered the most beautiful time to visit ABC, as the flowers are in bloom and temperatures warm up to around 63 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this is also the haziest time of year in the Himalayas, so views may be obscured.

How Difficult Is The Short ABC Trek?

The short ABC trek is considered a moderately difficult trek that does not require technical mountaineering skills. On average, hikers will walk for 6 to 8 hours per day. The difficulty of the trek can vary depending on your fitness level and previous hiking experience. All trekking routes in Nepal involve a lot of ups and downs, which can be draining, especially at higher altitudes where there is less oxygen. However, compared to other high-altitude treks such as Everest Base Camp, Manaslu, and the Annapurna Circuit, the ABC trek is considered less difficult.
